UK CHANGES VISA RULES FOR TIER 2 AND FOR INDIANS STUDENTS

NEW RULES FOR NON-EU NATIONAL ON TIER 2: Effective from 24th November 2016, the UK Government has implemented  new visa rules for non-European Union (EU) nationals which may affect a huge number of Indian nationals.

According to the new rules the non-EU applicant  who will apply for visa under the Tier 2 ICT category from 24th November onwards and should have a minimum of 30000 pounds in salary from the previous salary threshold was only 20800 pounds.

It is said that the UK’s ICT path is being mostly used by Indian IT companies in UK as the path for Indian Information Technology professionals. The maximum number of visas issued under the ICT path is acquired by the Indian citizens, who are the applicant as per Migration Advisory Committee of the UK, around 90% of total visas issued under this way are developed by Indians, it  is also presumed that the UK’s new visa rules may affect a large number of Indian citizens.

With these new rules, the family members of the applicant belonging to the foreign citizen in UK applying for permanent residence in the country after two-and-a-half years must accomplish the new English language requirement. The new rules are applicable to all the applicants’ parents & partners who are presently living in UK under family immigration rules whose due date expires by 1st May 2017 or after.

INCREASED VISAS FOR INDIANS STUDENTS:   It was said that Indian Visas may get bigger if the Indian Government support them on the issue of Indian migrants staying more than the period of their visa. It should be considered that the Indian Student Community has been facing a lot of problem regarding the processing of their visas to the UK. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the British Government to take fast actions for the immigration of Indian students to the UK.

In the Business Leaders Summit held in New Delhi, UK industrialist Sir James Dyson has favoured and backed the smoother visa progression of Indian visas to UK. British Premier’s visit to India for three days also focused on the same issue. Easy rules for mutual trade between these countries post Brexit policy was also the focus of this visit.

Theresa May, Prime Minister of UK, however, assured that nine out of ten Indian students are being approved for the UK visa. India demanded for the lessening of eligibility criteria and rise in number of visas approved. Britain also agreed on cost deduction which will surely ensure the increased number of visa processing for the UK.

In return of these favor, India would have to help UK for the return of Indians who do not have legal Visas. Indian PM Narendra Modi revealed that the current visa policy of UK resulted in 50% decrease of Indian students approaching the UK.

Chief of Cobra beer, Lord Bilimora has also required of multiple entry visa of less than £100 should be extended to Indians too. Sir James also up-to-date that it would replicate in the deficiency of engineers in UK by almost one million. UK has only one third of the engineers which means there is a huge change required for the Visa policies, and make the visa process even more friendly for students from India to appeal for better talents.
