NEW CHANGES IN POINTS SYSTEM FOR AUSTRALIAN MIGRATION PROGRAM NOVEMBER 2019

The Government of Australia will make new changes in Australia’s immigration point system effective 16th November 2019. The government plans to introduce some first-time point allocation in the system, orelse 10 points will be awarded for applicants who are single / not married / not have a spouse / de facto partner. These upcoming changes will benefit the principal applicants.  

The main Changes will assist a prospective applicant to be eligible to Australia’s under the current immigration point system.

These changes will come into effect from 16th November 2019, following changes will be implemented in Australia’s Immigration point Calculator 2019:

  • 15 Points will be awarded for applicants nominated by a State or Territory Government or sponsored by a family member residing in regional Australia
  • 10 points will be awarded for having certain STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) qualifications
  • 10 points will be awarded for applicants who do not have a spouse or de facto partner
  • 10 points will be awarded for having a skilled spouse or de facto partner,  skills assessed by the Skills assessment body
  • 5 Points will be awarded for applicants with a spouse or de facto partner who has competent English

OTHER IMPORTANT AUSTRALIA IMMIGRATION RULE CHANGES NOVEMBER 2019

NEW VISA SUBCLASS 491:  A new skilled work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491 will also be introduced which will come into effect from 16th November 2019 with some of the following changes:

The Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 491) is a new and improved points-tested visa that will benefit the regional parts of Australia.  Prospective applicants can be nominated by a state or territory Government agency or Sponsored by an eligible family member living in a designated regional area.

The Subclass 489 (Skilled – Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 489) to primary applicants seeking to fulfil the requirements to be granted with Subclass 489 visa to the applicant in the first Provisional Visa stream. Subclass 489 is outdated or superseded by Subclass 491.

NEW VISA SUBCLASS 494:  A new subclass has been introduced Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional)) visa (Subclass 494), a new and improved employer-sponsored visa will benefit new applicants for the Regional Australia, with 2 key streams orelse Employer Sponsored and Labour Agreement.

Prospective employers can employ foreign workers on this Subclass 494 visa under the sponsorship regime for employers in the Migration Act (Division 3A of Part 2 of the Migration Act); and the removal of the Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme) visa, except for certain transitional cohorts. Subclass 187 is outdated or superseded by Subclass 494

NEW VISA SUBCLASS 191:  A new Subclass has been introduced for PR visa Subclass 191 (Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)) visa (Subclass 191) and this subclass will come into effect from 16 NOVEMBER 2022.  This new Subclass 191 may only be applied for by holders of the new Subclass 491 and Subclass 494 visa

NEW PARENT VISA:  Also, there has been new changes announced for applicants sponsoring their Parents.   With this new changes brought in by the Australian Government introducing the new Parent visa will benefit many prospective applicants to sponsor their parents as there is no more requirement of balance of family test requirement. The applications to sponsor a parent for a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa will be open. The Government of Australia will assess the sponsorship applications received from the applicant and the parents to make a decision based on the supporting documents that has been provided on the parents application.
