The Minister for Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Chris Alexander confirmed that Express Entry start a new phase of active immigration recruitment to meet economic and labour market needs that will come into effect from 1st January 2015. Potential applicants can qualify after assessing their eligibility under the 1st January 2015 express entry policy, with the first invite under express entry the applicant will be selected within weeks from the date of express entry is lodged.
Express Entry will assist and select skilled immigrants based on applicants’ skills and experience. Applicants with valid job offer or Provincial/territorial nominations will be picked up first from the express entry to be processed.
Research shows these criteria will help ensure newcomers participate more fully in the Canada’s economy and integrate more quickly into Canadian society. Express Entry will result in faster processing and will allow the Government of Canada to be more flexible and respond better to Canada’s changing Labour market needs. The applications will be processed in six months or less from the date the applications are lodged after they have been picked up from the Express Entry.
THREE FEDERAL ECONOMIC IMMIGRATION PROGRAMS, WHICH CAN BE MANAGED THROUGH EXPRESS ENTRY ARE AS FOLLOWS:
• The Federal Skilled Worker Program,
• The Federal Skilled Trades Program and
• The Canadian Experience Class.
PROVINCIAL NOMINATION PROGRAM:
Provinces and Territories will be able to use the Express Entry system to select a portion of candidates for their Provincial Nomination Program.
Almost all of Canada’s provinces and territories can nominate applicants or potential candidates to immigrate to Canada. The applicants must have the skills, education and work experience they need to contribute to the economy of that province or territory.
An applicant must meet the following requirements to be nominated under the Provincial Nominee Program: Be nominated by a specific Canadian province or territory, then apply to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to become a permanent resident of Canada.
Each participating province and territory has its own nomination guidelines and these Provinces and Territory guidelines can change without notice.
Most provinces and territories in Canada have an agreement with the Government of Canada that lets them nominate the applicants who want to settle in Canada.
The applicants must apply in two stages.
First, the applicant must apply to the province or territory where the applicant wants to live. The Province / Territory will assess the application based on two requirements:
- Immigration requirements of the Province / Territory
- Applicant should prove their intention to settle down in that Province / Territory
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE PROVINCES THAT WILL INVITE POTENTIAL APPLICANTS TO QUALIFY UNDER THE PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM.
• Alberta
• British Columbia
• Manitoba
• New Brunswick
• Newfoundland and Labrador
• Northwest Territories
• Nova Scotia
• Ontario
• Prince Edward Island
• Saskatchewan
• Yukon
Secondly, after a province or territory nomination is made for an applicant, the applicant is then eligible to apply to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence for the application and the family.
Applicants can apply under Express Entry system which includes: The Federal Skilled Worker Program, The Federal Skilled Trades Program and The Canadian Experience Class and obtain their family visas provided they have the pass mark.
Potential applicants need to assess their eligibility before they can proceed in lodging a Express Entry application. All applicants must meet minimum language requirements in either English or French and also have their qualification assessed with ECA (Educational Credential Assessment).
