AUSTRALIA - NEW POINTS TO BE RELEASED FOR GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION

The new Points Test is to be released on 11th November 2010 for General Skilled Migration. At this stage there is no indication of what the pass mark will be. There are significant changes to the Points Test. Below is the summary of major parts of the Points Test. Once all of the information is released we will provide further detailed information:
However there are key factors which are unknown at this stage including:
* Passmark
* The points test refers to a priority and non priority occupations. It is unknown what list this will refer to
* There is no indication of points for State Sponsorship
* There is no indication as to when the Points test will be in effect
* Points to be awarded on the basis of relationship to Sponsor.
* Points to be awarded if the sponsor is an Australian Citizen and the period the Sponsor has been an Australian Citizen.
* Points to be awarded if the Sponsor has resided in Australia for 2 years before lodgement
At this stage it is advisable to go ahead with completing the IELTS requirement for the principal applicant and spouse. Also, it is advisable to go ahead in having your Skills assessment completed prior to proceeding towards lodgment. Based on the outcome of the policy and the pass mark that is to be announced by the Immigration department an application can be prepared for lodgment
The IELTS will be the key factor towards lodging a successful application
