South Australia has recently added additional new occupations to manage South Australia’s COVID recovery response. The state of South Australia have added an additional 70 occupations will be open to applicants currently residing offshore from 28 September 2021.
As stated the minimum requirements for state nomination include at least 8 years work experience in the occupation or closely related occupation and a proficient plus English level. The full requirements for each occupation will show on South Australia’s Skilled Occupation List from 10am, ACST, 28 September 2021.
For South Australian state nomination, prospective applicants must meet the Department of Home Affairs requirements, state-specific occupation requirements and have skills in an occupation that is available on our Skilled Occupation List.
Also, Offshore applicants should meet the minimum published requirements can lodge a Registration of Interest - RoI from 10am, ACST, 28 September 2021.
State nomination requirements vary depending on the visa pathway an application chooses to apply based on specific requirement.
The process for state nomination is lengthy and time consuming, also there is no assurance of receiving an invitation to apply for state nomination after lodging an RoI, even if the minimum requirements are satisfied. Therefore it is important that an application should have all documents in order prior to lodgment.

Applicants who have the eligibility can apply for the South Australia state nomination provided their occupation is on the SA list and also meet the skilled nomination requirements before applying.
If an applicant of international graduate student is applying for South Australia, the applicant should also review International graduate occupation list and must obtain waiver requirements before applying.
Also, additional occupations are available on the Supplementary Skilled List for South Australia for applicants to review. These occupations are only available for applicants who meet the additional requirements explained on the Skilled Nomination Requirements page of South Australia.
Applicants must also explore their openings on their employment opportunities carefully. Every application has to be assessed carefully based on their job description and title to determine if the applicant’s occupation requires further training, or if the applicant need to meet the following requirements such as registration, licensing, residency or other requirements before an applicant can work in South Australia.
