• The UK Self-sponsorship visa is Skilled Worker visa route, and not a separate visa category. The applicant needs to establish a UK company, obtain a sponsor license, and then sponsor himself for a Skilled Worker visa to work within that company. 
• The Sponsor Licence is valid for 4 years, at the end of the 4 years a renewal application will need to be made to the Home Office.
• As long as you have an active / trading business you can retain the sponsor licence. If business was to stop trading, then you will be required to switch your immigration category.

• After 5 years of sponsorship and employment, the applicant can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and potentially British citizenship. 

 

STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION PROCESS: 

• ESTABLISH A UK COMPANY:  The applicant needs a genuine and active UK company. 

• APPLY FOR SPONSOR LICENSE: The applicant’s UK company must obtain a sponsor license from the Home Office. 

• ASSIGN YOURSELF A CERTIFICATE OF SPONSORSHIP (COS): Once the license is granted, the applicant can assign himself a CoS, which is required for the applicant’s Skilled Worker visa application. 

• APPLY FOR A SKILLED WORKER VISA: The applicant needs to apply for the Skilled Worker visa using the UK company's sponsorship. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

• GENUINE AND ACTIVE UK COMPANY: The company must be genuine and operating. 
• SPONSOR LICENSE: The company must have a valid sponsor license. 
• GENUINE JOB OFFER: The job the applicant is doing for the company must be a genuine position. 
• SALARY THRESHOLD: The salary the applicant receives must meet the minimum salary threshold requirements for a Skilled Worker visa. 
• ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:  The applicant only needs to demonstrate sufficient English language skills (CEFR Level B1 or equivalent). 
• SUFFICIENT FUNDS: The applicant needs to demonstrate that he has enough funds to support himself and family members without depending on public funds. 
• CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK: The applicant and family members who are part of the application needs to provide a criminal record certificate. 
• TB CERTIFICATE: The applicant and his family members must also complete medicals and provide a valid TB certificate.
